Industrial fitter

An industrial assembler installs equipment, supports and subassemblies from drawings.

What does an industrial assembler do?

An industrial assembler installs equipment, supports and subassemblies from drawings. The assembler identifies components, understands their place in the overall arrangement and carries out the specified assembly operations.

Depending on the project, work may involve mechanical components, supports or assemblies within an installation.

  • Prepare the operations

Review assembly drawings, identify parts and accessories, check availability and establish the access needed at the workstation.

  • Install and assemble

Position and assemble elements to the instructions, make the specified adjustments and coordinate with the resources and teams available on site.

  • Track finishing tasks

Check elements within the assigned scope, report missing or incompatible parts and communicate the assembly status to prepare the next stage.

Skills and personal qualities

Drawing interpretation, component identification and accurate fitting are key. The assembler understands the sequence and uses suitable tools.

Methodical work and communication help identify missing parts or incompatibilities. Welding, machinery operation and specialist connections require separate skills and, where applicable, authorizations.

Working environment and teamwork

Assemblers work on new installations, equipment replacement and modifications. Parts deliveries and assembly stages shape the workflow.

They cooperate with pipe fitters, welders and site management. Access, handling equipment and the presence of other teams are part of the daily working environment.

Training and career development

Training in mechanics, assembly or industrial maintenance provides a foundation in components, drawings and assembly methods. Work on different equipment develops precision and an understanding of sequences.

Experience can lead to specialization in a family of equipment or coordination of an assembly team.
